Due to plasma technology, likely the pixel size (?), the 42 inch plasma will have a 'near' HD resolution only, ie 1024*768. To achieve the HD res, you need to go up to 50 inch or larger which still has a resolution of only 1366*768. You will need to wait a while before the res of 42 inch hit the 'genuine' HD resolution or the 50 inch finally replaces 42 inch as a sweet spot of pricing for plasma (likely couple of years). If you care for the res, LCD seemed to hit the spot on the resolution
