Question regarding EAC program krub. I try to make a copy of my CD but it still does not sound the same to the original. Any other suggestion krub.
My system is as follow:
Computer: DELL
CPU: Pentium 4 2.8Ghz, Hyperthreading
RAM: 512MB
DVD+RW writer:NEC DVD+RW ND2100AD
CD-R: 3M Imation
CD-RW: Sony CDRW700S
CD audio master: Eric Clapton's Change The World CD single, US pressing
I burn the CD by
1. In EAC, use Action/Copy Image and Create CUE Sheet
2. In EAC, Use Write CD-R. Choose CUE file and write at 4x speed, the lowest available option
I did calibrate the offset value first which is at +66 before I made a listening copy.
My understanding is that after all these things, the CD-R that I wrote should sound exactly the same as the master. While the finished product sounds relatively decent, it does not sound exactly the same as the original. I use relatively simple gears, comprising Sony D-EJ100 CD Walkman and Grado SR60 headphone.
I find the 'duplicated' CD sounds rather compressed, ie sound slightly louder than original with an emphasis on some frequency range. This makes it some lower frequency

bass guitar sounds rather annoying as it sticks out

a sore thumb. The program probably tinkers with something on the CD data as you could hear some detail better and some people may

it. However, this changes the tone of the music slightly and does not make it sound the same as the orignal.
It reminds me of a 'remastered' disc gone wrong. The symptom includes louder level and more detail of some instrument but the balance of the music is wrong. Some may

the fact that it plays louder and offers different (or more) detail of music. However, the dynamic range of the music from the quiet moment and the louder one seems to be sacrificed in the process. This resulted in a fatique in a short period of time. The reason is that these remastered disc usually goes through some kind of digital compression. The one that got a really bad name is the latest Nirvana compilation.
At this point in time, I'm rather disappointed in the claim of making an exact copy. However, I know I'm relatively new in making copy of a CD so I would appreciate any help/suggestion on this as I may not do something right to begin with.
