I suggested Tivoli Henry Kloss + a cheapo walkman

My experience with this set so far is much better than mini compo provided that you're OK with its look as it does not come in set.
Tivoli itself sounds better than Bose radio, according to review by Consumer Report of the US, and Tivoli is approx half the price of Bose! Consumer Report is a US magazine that does not accept advertising and focuses more on a regular listener, not audiophile.
For audiophile, Tivoli is a Class D recommended component list on its tuner.
