AMS35i - Design and Build
The AMS35i is a true high-end integrated amplifier; a pure Class A design with remarkable technical performance, exceptional musicality and premium build.
Its pre-amplifier section has discrete power supplies with separate transformer windings. The dual-mono power amp element is equally isolated; in essence, the AMS35i is an optimised pre/power design that happens to sit in the same box.
The AMS35is power-amp circuitry is directly descended from the design used in our flagship TITAN and the dedicated AMS50 and AMS100 power amps. This results in an astonishing technical performance from an integrated amp, even at very high frequencies. The AMS35i has less than 0.01% distortion from 10Hz to 50Hz. Its signal-to-noise ratio, frequency response and power delivery are equally outstanding.
The AMS35i delivers 35 Watts of pure Class A power per channel into 8 Ohms enough to drive most speakers and fill all but the largest of rooms. It offers both balanced and line-level connectivity, and has pre-amp outputs that allow for bi-amping. It has two pairs of speaker outputs, too.
Like the rest of the AMS range, the AMS35i boasts stunning build quality. The front panel is machined from solid, military-grade aluminium with an exclusive titanium G2 finish in silver of black. The top and back are also made from solid aluminium, finished to the highest standard, with the attention to detail extending right down to the badges crafted from medical-grade stainless steel. Even the remote control features solid aluminium casing and buttons.
In addition, the AMS35IS heatsinks are custom made to our specification for maximum efficiency. This is an essential design consideration: pure Class A amplifiers run a high standing current.
In action, the AMS35i presents music with authority and control. Transients are fast and deep, with no subsequent overhang: musical strands start and stop precisely where they should. The sound has the unique Class A characteristic of putting you at the heart of a musical performance as if you were there listening live. Higher frequencies are smooth and sweet; the midrange is open and emotive perfect for vocal performances and the low-end rich and deep. All without unnecessary colouration this is pure, accurate hi-fi delivering music as it was meant to be heard.
The AMS35i is the perfect sonic and style partner for our AMS CD, which offers advanced CD playback and DAC capabilities, but the amps suite of balanced and line-level connectivity, including tape outputs, mean it will happily pair with a wide range of sources.
