From using key components to ensuring their optimised implementation, no effort has been spared to make the AMS CD the very best hi-fi source possible.
At its heart is a selected, custom-made Philips CD Pro mechanism, regarded as the worlds best design. Its extremely reliable, stable and robust, but most importantly of all, it has astonishing data-retrieval properties. Used in tandem with our unique engineering, this means youll hear more from your CDs than ever before.
That faithfully retrieved data is then fed to our exceptional 24bit/192kHz upsampling DAC, a quad, dual-differential design complete with state-of-the-art detail such as mu-metal screening to minimise magnetic interference. Its an exclusive implementation that benefits from our years of digital expertise, resulting in ultra-low levels of jitter, noise and distortion.
Such digital excellence deserves to be accessible to more than just CDs which is why weve designed the AMS CD so its DAC can also boost the performance of any digital source connected to the products balanced, optical and co-axial inputs. From discs to downloads, weve got a world of music covered.
After using the worlds best CD mechanism and our best-ever DAC design, we still havent finished optimising the AMS CD. Weve paid particular attention to its power supply a vital part of any digital product. This is because digital circuitry can introduce digital artefacts that reduce the performance of other stages. By using no fewer than 12, premium power supplies, we ensure a regulated, stable performance immune to digital noise.
The final outstanding technical feature is the AMS CDs pure Class A, fully balanced output stage, which guarantees the best possible connection to the pre-amp or integrated amplifier of your choice, via any reasonably conceivable length of cable.
But enough of technology: how does the AMS CD sound? The answer is truthful, neutral and revealing - just as the very best hi-fi should be. You hear the music as it was performed; the AMS CD adds no character of its own to alter the enjoyment. The true speed and scale of recordings is reproduced, from the sweetest highs to the deepest lows. Such reference-standard replay is the result of all our effects to ensure the maximum of data is retrieved from every digital source, and delivered in the best possible quality.
That quality approach extends to the AMS CDs casing, too. Like all its AMS siblings, the AMS CD is beautifully built. The front panel is machined from solid, military-grade aluminium with an exclusive titanium G2 finish, in silver or black. The top, sides and back are also made from solid aluminium, finished to the highest standard, with the attention to detail extending right down to the units badges crafted from medical-grade stainless steel. Even the AMC CDs remote control features solid aluminium casing and buttons.

The first thing youll notice about the M6CD is its sleek styling and superb build quality. Like its equally elegant siblings in the M6 range, this is hi-fi you will be proud to own.
The design isnt just for show, however. The solidity of build at every level including using a metal CD drawer offers a stable platform for the M6 CDs astonishing sonic skills.
The M6CD uses a top-quality CD mechanism, engineered to enable maximum data retrieval from your disc collection. That optimal information is then fed to the dual-differential, eight-times oversampling DAC at the heart of the M6CD.
Weve optimised the implementation of this 24bit/192kHz DAC design to ensure ultra-low levels of distortion (0.0005%), minimal jitter and exceptional signal-to-noise ratio. Coupled with excellent linearity, this makes the M6CD everything a modern digital hub should be.
The upsampling DAC design will not only maximise the performance of your CDs, but all your digital sources, thanks to its switchable array of coaxial, optical and USB inputs. That means you can connect a wide range of digital devices - from your computer to a TV set-top box and hear them at their best.
The M6CD has a robust output stage, offering both balanced and single-ended connections, enabling it to easily pair with the amplification of your choice. The perfect partners, of course, also sit within the M6 range.

M3CD - Design and Build
The M3CD offers an elegance and excellence of build and finish that belies its price. As with the M3i, its front panel is a custom-made extrusion of solid metal, with matching metal volume knob and buttons.
The CD player's performance is engineered to be equally smooth, serene, and structured without colouring the sound. As Hi-Fi World's review confirmed: "It's best described as clean, open and detailed, with a pleasant lilting musicality, underlined by a strong backbone".
We believe the first step to achieving such musicality is excellent technical performance; the M3CD is packed with exclusive innovation that successfully minimizes distortion, noise and jitter.
The player uniquely features both a high-tech digital-stream noise filter and a mains choke filter. The mains choke - first developed for our mighty Titan power amp - removes unwanted mains interference and maximizes the efficiency of the M3CD's five independent power supply units.
The M3CD uses an advanced, dual-differential DAC design that offers eight-times oversampling. This is fed from the player's high-quality, slot-loading CD transport, which smoothly handles your disc collection. This DAC and transport combination delivers greater accuracy, enabling you to hear more from your favourite CDs.
The perfect partner for the M3CD is, of course, the matching M3i integrated amplifier. You can simply pair them via a line-level connection and control them both from a single handset.
