You can also try BBK 988 which will cost you around HK$900 and available in HK. BBK is the OEM and, likely, a part owner of Oppo.
According to avsforum.com, it's the same as Oppo 970HD but less expensive and can output upscaled signal via component (Oppo can't do that).
Once you get BBK988, you need to reduce the contrast to -3 as its firmware has some error.
You can also upgrade BBK988 using Oppo 970HD firmware too
Once you install new firmware, you could disable sharpness on BBK but it will not

2. Remote will not work. You will need to buy new remote from Oppo in the US or use logitech Harmony remote + downloading the code from its website. Logitech Harmony remote started at US$100.
