It is true on a relative basis, ie to itself. The size of CCD really makes lots of difference, unlike my impression when reading all those website. My relatives owned mini-DV from Sony which he bought more than 3-4 years, the top of the line at the time. The picture looks much more vibrant and the trade off of less saturated color, to me, is acceptable.

I disable this function as it takes a lot of toll on the battery. So, I don't really care about it that much. That's also an opinion from my relatives too. I don't think we really need it under normal circumstances and for family picture. However, it may be useful for videophile and serious movie makers which I'm not. I take the occassional shaking as a sign of home making movie which adds a good feeling/heart warming experience to it when you watch it again.

I didn't go for GS400 due to price and size. I prefer a very compact one. Even though GS200 is rather compact, I didn't use it that often as it's rather troublesome to really carry things around. I felt

I still have very little experience with mini DV. The picture is not as good as I
. The color is better, ie truer to the real color vs 1CCD. The picture is not very vibrant though. And the resolution is the one that I don't
vs. Sony 1CCD which seemed to have a sharper and more detail picture. So far, there is no problem. I'm not really into taking movie/picture so this is just my experience which seemed to run against other users of Panny 3CCD.
BTW, I bought PV-GS200, the NTSC version, not NV-GS200, the PAL version, that was sold in this part of the world as I need to share the movie with people in North America. I guess there is not much difference between these two models.

My relatives and I have a very positive experience with all Sony products, particularly camcorder. It's just my feeling that Panny is always the second best and that's where they targeted. This is also reflected in the US where Sony's brand always comes on top of other electronic gadget while Panny is more of an also ran cheaper alternative. The weak point about Sony could be the price of its accessory, ie battery which is rather expensive.
