Update krub

The owner ended up with 40 inch LCD, in line with Khun อูฐ's suggestion.

It's the Samsung LA40A550P1F as the owner couldn't take the black level of LG 50LG series krub

FYI for pricing

Samsung LA40A550P1F: at HK$11,800 (HK$16,800 list price)

LG 42LG50FD-HD: at HK$11,800 (HK$ 20,300 list)

I'm OK with Samsung for its black level.  Despite a rather cold (blue) color temperature, the black level makes the TV more watchable than the more accurate color of LG (with black area a glob of gray 'thing')

Khun หมอทีเจ, LG60 is 100Hz krub and that's why it's more expensive though I don't this high scan that much as it does not look natural to me.

Khun อูฐ krub, model wise in Thailand krub as I think this is the way to compare TV across the border?

On Philips, how about its aftersales service?  Is it still the same, ie not in a good way, in the past krub?

For me, I don't really LG that much but it's just fit the budget.  Ultimateavmag said that its color is great but its black level suffered from the IPS panel that Samsung used which traded the wider viewing angle with the black level.  Samsung is the best of bunch, even with Sony, on the black level, according to the article.

Current promotion is for 42LG50FD which has a built in HDTV tuner for HK$11,800. (30% off).  In general, TV in HK is more expensive, particularly the one that was made in Southeast Asia.  Comparable model from Samsung, which I more will be at full price...

หวัดดี คุณ lapath  หายไปนาน   สบายดีไหมครับ ราคาที่ให้เทียบนี่ เป็นที่ฮ่องกงหรือไทยอ่ะ    lcd lg   โดยส่วนตัวเคยหนึ่งตัว แล้วขายไป    ผมไม่ค่อยชอบ (ไม่ใช่ไม่ดีน่ะ)   ถ้าเป็นซื้อที่เมืองไทย  ซึ่งเดียวนี้แผง lcd ผลิตที่เมืองไทยเยอะมาก  ดังนั้น  ไซค์  สี่สิบนิ้วน่าจะคุ้มกว่า เพราะทำเป็น ปริมาณมาก และ ราคาไหลลงมาเยอะมาก(ไม่รู้จะไหลลงมาอีกแค่ไหน)   แต่ตอนนี้ก็ถูกมาก ๆ       ถ้าเอา full hd  ตอนนี้ถูกสุด น่าจะเป็น sony s series  samsung      เอาเฉพาะ lcd น่ะ  ถ้าเรียงตามความชอบผม   philip     samsung   sony    แต่ถ้าเทียบตามสเปคและความคุ้มราคา     samsung  sony  philip   ครับ   ผมเอาราคาที่ซื้อขายจิงน่ะ  ไม่ใช่ราคาตั้ง

I've been looking for LCD TV set for my friend and found this LG 37LG60UR.  I wonder whether anybody has experience with this model.

Also, if you could recommend other brands in this price range which is rather tight, ie +/-5%.

Gotta be LCD as it will face the window directly and they usually won't drop the curtain during the daytime.
