A New Generation of High Resolution Inputs
It is hard to believe, but we have been shipping our MSB Network since the 1990's. It is a high-speed, low-jitter I2S interconnect that has provided the best possible connection between the DAC and Transport. In recent years we have been dealing with more computer related sources that carry more and more noise on the grounds. The solid ground connection that was once a advantage with the MSB Network is now becoming a liability with sources

computer sound cards and our Universal Media Transport (because it connects to a video monitor and contains a BluRay player).
This upgrade provides two new input options. It has a ground isolated MSB Network I input and a brand new MSB Network II input, that far exceeds the performance and jitter specs of the Network I with NO ground connection.
Ground Isolated MSB Network I
This input is designed specially as the best possible input for the MSB Universal Media Transport. It has the performance of the stock MSB Network without the coupling of ground noise. With this input both our transports can have optimal inputs.
MSB Network II
The MSB Network II is new and offers amazing performance. It is lower jitter and higher speed than the MSB Network I. It contains 4 sets of 8 channels audio of 384 kHz, 32 bit audio in the I2S format, as well as a 5th set of 10 channel data. These can be used to send independent super precision clock inputs and output lines, as well as a control bus. There is an MSB Network II output on our Studio 384 kHz, 32 bit ADC and it will become the standard output on all new flagship MSB transports. Switching the input between the MSB Network I and II is as easy as moving a cable from one input to the other. You can even use both inputs!
An Added Bonus
This upgrade board offers another bonus, an all purpose I2S Input, output port. With a simple adapter card, this port can be interfaced to:
Other I2S formats - with an interface board we should be able to accept inputs from other I2S sources.
New 32 bit formats - We are working on a 32 bit USB input using this port.
Other audio Formats - We hope to some day offer an HDMI input.
Output Possibilities - This port could also support other output formats that may be of interest in the future.
Operation
These new inputs are added to the existing input LIST and are selected just

the stock inputs. The MSB II is not backward compatible. It only works with other MSB II outputs.
Installation
The Pro Input board plugs right in the input upgrade slot. The Network connector installs in one of the AUX input holes.! It is activated with a firmware update, by simply playing a file. Unfortunately it is too big to fit in the Diamond DAC IV without modifying the large heat sink. This job will need to be done by your dealer or by MSB. This input is not available for the DAC III or earlier models.
The Sound
Depending on the system grounds, some users have found that when playing CDs, the Universal Media Transport does not sound as good as our flagship Data CD Transport. This difference is partially due to noise transmitted on the interconnect ground. This input option dramatically reduces the system noise and brings the two transports performance much closer together. This input is also a lower jitter input and may improve the sound of the Data CD Transport as well.
